Peter started out in the 1970s playing flute, bongos and kazoo in a silly folk duo, progressing to bass in a rock function band, then saxophone/vocals in blues-rock bands The Sleaze Bros and The Valvolines, before going all sophisticated with New Vintage.

Bass
After a lifetime playing guitar Bill has been focussing on bass since joining New Vintage and is now loving playing the tunes he has always wanted to play.

JOHN
SHAW
Drums
John began taking drum lessons at 11.He played in many pop bands. In the ’80s he joined the Brian King Big Band which introduced him to jazz and the likes of Buddy Rich, Miles Davis and Maynard Ferguson; he was hooked!
Claim to fame: teaching Bill Ward (Black Sabbath) the rudiments. He’s very happy now playing with New Vintage.

MALCOLM
SMART
Guitar
Malcolm has a broad range of musical influences and guitar styles, including Blues, Rock, Jazz and Classical. He has played in numerous bands in the Midlands and Cornwall, and was a full-time peripatetic guitar teacher for Cornwall Music Service for 12 years, before returning to the Midlands, when he joined Blast Off and met the guys in New Vintage.
